County Animal Services is hosting a Halloween-themed Homecoming Event on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 2 to 7 p.m. at both its Bonita and Carlsbad shelters.
The event invites recent adopters to bring their pets back for a homecoming celebration featuring games, music, trunk-or-treat activities and more. Trunk-or-treat is a fun spin on trick-or-treat that replaces houses with cars.
All pet adoptions are free, and staff will provide free microchips and vaccines on-site for pet owners. The County's Pet Health Express bus will also be at the Carlsbad shelter during the event.
Adoptions will run until 6:30 p.m. to give guests enough time to fill out the adoption paperwork.

The department works closely with more than 300 rescue partners and community members to find foster and forever homes for every healthy and adoptable animal while providing the best care possible. Staff also focus on creating the right match between pets and adopters to help ensure lasting, loving bonds.
County Animal Services supports local communities year-round by offering low-cost microchip and rabies vaccination clinics with no appointment needed, as well as educational resources on pet preparedness, training and safety. All animals adopted from County shelters are spayed or neutered to help reduce pet overpopulation.
