HANNIBAL - Weather permitting, as early as March 30, Route J in Lincoln County is scheduled to close, from Route U to Jabin Farm Road, for a bridge replacement project. Work will occur at the bridge over Big Creek, 0.2 mile south of Route U, near Troy.
A signed detour will be in place to assist motorists in reaching their destinations. Route J traffic will utilize Route U to Missouri Route 47, then travel to Interstate 70.
Drivers are reminded to please slow down, obey all signs and eliminate distractions while driving. Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur. MoDOT will alert the public about the project through signs, news releases and social media.
Magruder Construction Co., Inc. was awarded the contract earlier this year in the amount of $1.8M. Anticipated completion of the new bridge is scheduled to open by mid-summer. All work is weather dependent and schedules are subject to change.
