Gibson celebrates 50 years of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with limited-edition Flying V and exclusive apparel

Inspired by the Heartbreakers logo featured on the band's debut album, this milestone model commemorates five decades of free-spirited and resilient rock 'n' roll

Gibson is celebrating 50 years of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with a collection of limited-edition 50th Anniversary Tom Petty Flying V™ guitars. The launch joins a growing number of landmark anniversary celebrations from the band and the Tom Petty estate, and also arrives alongside a lifestyle collection of apparel and guitar accessories.

This significant Flying V is inspired by the Heartbreakers logo featured on the band's self-titled 1976 debut album. With five distinctive gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finishes available, the "Flying Five" includes Gainesville Gold (a nod to the band's home city), Graphite Metallic, Heartbreaker Red, Pearl White Metallic, and Pelham Blue. There are just 250 guitars available worldwide.

Built with a mahogany Flying V body and matching mahogany neck, it features a SlimTaper™ neck profile and a rosewood fretboard with a 12-inch radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, and acrylic dot inlays. Grover® Rotomatic® tuners and a Graph Tech® nut provide dependable tuning stability up top, while a Heartbreaker 50th truss rod cover and a reproduction of Tom Petty's signature on the back of the headstock add some truly special and exclusive commemorative touches to the model.

The guitar is fitted with a pair of 70s Tribute humbuckers™ and handwired electronics, including individual volume controls, a master tone control with an Orange Drop® capacitor, and a three-way pickup selector switch. Gold-plated hardware includes an aluminum Nashville Tune-O-Matic™ bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, with gold Top Hat control knobs that keep the look uniform across the body. A three-ply white pickguard and a cream toggle switch cap complete the guitar. Each model ships in a Gibson hardshell case.
