Holidays will affect city facilities and services

Dec. 19, 2025 - Here's a look at how the Christmas and New Year's holidays will affect facilities and services in Hampton.

City offices: Wednesday through Friday, Dec. 24-26 and Thursday, Jan. 1.

Trash collection: There will be no trash collection on Thursday, Dec. 25. Thursday's collections will be done a day early, on Wednesday, Dec. 24. There will be no trash or recycling collections on Thursday, Jan. 1. Those collections will be made a day early, on Dec. 31.

Street sweeping: No street sweeping will be done on Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 24-25. Wednesday's sweeping will be done on Monday, Dec. 29, and Thursday's sweeping will be done on Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Landfill: Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Yard waste site: Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Libraries: Closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

Community and neighborhood centers: Closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

Treasurer and Commissioner of the Revenue: Closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

Peninsula Health District: Closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

Courts: Closed Dec. 24-26 and Jan. 1.

Hampton History Museum:Closes at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24. Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

Carousel: Closes at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec 24. Closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, and then closed for the season until spring.

Parks: Open regular hours.

James T. Wilson Fishing Pier: Closes at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24. Closed Dec. 25. Reopens 8 a.m. Dec. 26. Closed Jan. 1 and remains closed for the season until spring.
