The Northern Beaches community has plenty to cheer about, with several athletes who have local ties representing Australia at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

The Milano Cortina Olympic events are well underway, with competitions until 22 February.

We're proud to celebrate the incredible athletes with strong local connections who are part of the Australian team:

  • Danielle Scott - Freshwater resident Danielle is a 4-time Olympian and one of Australia's most decorated aerial skiers.
  • Madison Hoffman - Manly local Madi is competing in her first Olympic Games in both slalom and giant slalom after an amazing comeback from injury.
  • Amelie Haskell - An Avalon local who grew up surfing, 18-year-old Amelie is making her Olympic debut in the snowboard halfpipe.
  • George Murphy - Also competing in his first Olympics, George is a mogul skier who grew up in Manly and still enjoys surfing there.
  • Hektor Giotopoulos Moore - Raised between Balgowlah and Melbourne, Hektor is fulfilling his Olympic dream, competing with Anastasiia Golubeva in the figure skating pairs event.

Our Sporting Excellence Recognition Program allows the community to celebrate and recognise outstanding sporting achievements for local athletes.

In 2000, the Manly Pathway of Olympians and Paralympians was initially established to honour Olympians with a connection to Manly.

It has since been expanded to feature brass plaques dedicated to local Olympians from across the Northern Beaches who have represented Australia.

Former Winter Olympians honoured on the Pathway include:

  • Zali Steggall (alpine skiing)
  • Zeke Stegall (snowboarding)
  • Sami Kennedy-Sim (ski cross)
  • Emma Lincoln-Smith (skeleton)
  • Sam Hall (freestyle skiing moguls)
  • Davina Williams (freestyle skiing half-pipe)
  • Maria Despas (freestyle skiing moguls)

In addition to the Pathway, we also have our Northern Beaches Sporting Honour Roll for athletes who have represented Australia in Olympic and non-Olympic sports.

We regularly review nominations for athletes who have lived on the Northern Beaches for at least 5 years prior to the date of selection or representation.

If you would like to acknowledge a Northern Beaches athlete, simply fill in the nomination form for the Sporting Excellence Recognition Program.
