Dear Friend,
After law enforcement was demonized during the riots of 2020, and now again amid the obstruction, attacks, and unrest in Minnesota and in Democrat-run states across the nation, I want to take a moment to thank the men and women in law enforcement for the work they do across our country every single day.
It is not an easy job, but they are carrying out their constitutional duty. Immigration enforcement is a national obligation under the U.S. Constitution, and the federal government has the full authority and responsibility to enforce immigration laws in every state.
Left-wing states and politicians don't get to legally "opt out" of immigration law because they want to protect foreign lawbreakers.
And when federal agents encounter obstruction or violence from trained agitators or criminal illegal aliens, the job becomes far more dangerous. In Minneapolis, one officer was attacked with a shovel and another was hit by a car and left with internal bleeding, and in Oregon a Tren de Aragua gang member used a vehicle as a weapon.
This past year, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers have faced a 1,300% increase in assaults, a 3,200% increase in vehicular attacks, and an 8,000% increase in death threats. And what we have seen in Minnesota with rioters destroying federal vehicles, stealing firearms, and Tim Walz suggesting we are at "war with our federal government," only escalates tensions and undermines the rule of law. You can view some pictures from the so-called "peaceful protests" here.
This situation didn't happen by accident. Under the Biden administration, at least 10 million illegal aliens flooded into our country, including gang members, convicted criminals, and potential terrorists. Now the same liberal politicians who created and facilitated this crisis by breaking our laws are furious that the law is being enforced.
And here in Wisconsin, Governor Tony Evers made absurd comments this week by claiming Wisconsin would be "destroyed economically" if illegal aliens were deported, even suggesting we do not need federal immigration enforcement in our state.
If Wisconsin has so many illegal aliens that deportations would "destroy" the economy, then we've been neglecting immigration enforcement for far too long.
For years, uncontrolled immigration has harmed Wisconsin workers and families. It lowers wages, strains our social safety net and health care infrastructure, puts pressure on our public education system, and drives up housing costs, all while forcing law-abiding citizens to pick up the tab and live with the consequences.
And those consequences for Wisconsin have been tragic.
In Rusk County, a repeat offender illegal alien who should have been deported by the Biden administration after his first crime killed a father of three while driving drunk. In Prairie du Chien, a criminal tied to a South American gang was sentenced for child abuse and strangulation. And in Dane County, sanctuary policies allowed a repeat offender to remain in the community long enough to kill two teenagers in another drunk-driving crash.
It's time to let law enforcement do their jobs and enforce our immigration laws. That is how you lower the temperature, by restoring order - not by fanning the flames of disorder.
Thanks again for starting off your weekend with us! We hope you enjoy this week's edition of the Tiffany Telegram.
Sincerely,
Tom Tiffany
Member of Congress
This week, Governor Evers said Wisconsin would be "destroyed economically" if illegal aliens are deported. This is a ridiculous lie, and it undercuts every Wisconsin worker who follows the law and keeps our state running.
Banning insider trading in Congress
Public service isn't meant to be a get-rich-quick scheme. I was sent to Washington, D.C. to fight for the people of northern and western Wisconsin, not line my own pockets. In years past, Congress has passed legislation that prohibits Members of Congress from using insider information for their own financial benefit, but unfortunately, this legislation has proven insufficient. In fact, recently, we have seen Members of Congress who have enriched themselves through stock trading during their time in Congress, raising a lot of questions for the public. I am committed to restoring the public's trust in our elected officials. That is why I have never traded stocks while serving in Congress, and why I am an original cosponsor of my friend and colleague Representative Bryan Steil's Stop Insider Trading Act. This commonsense legislation would ban members of Congress, as well as their spouses and dependents, from buying new stocks for as long as they are an elected official. You can read more about this legislation here.
Fixing foreign failures
This week, the House passed a bipartisan spending bill to fund a handful of government agencies including the U.S. Department of State, which executes America's diplomacy and international relations. During the Biden years, America's foreign policy apparatus was notorious for wasting money and pursuing a dangerous globalist agenda - everything from funding drag shows in Ecuador to working on a sovereignty-killing "pandemic accord" with the China-friendly World Health Organization. But those days are now over. We told you last week about the Trump administration's bold step to withdraw the United States from several unaccountable multi-national bureaucracies, and the funding bill approved on Wednesday goes even further, trimming the State Department's budget by 16%. During consideration of this package, I voted for an amendment to save taxpayers even more by cutting foreign aid by another $315 million. Last but not least, the underlying bill included my "Honest Maps" provision, which Telegram readers will recall stops our government from using China-style maps that depict the independent country of Taiwan as part of China's territory, or under the control of its communist dictatorship. It's a lie that Beijing has gone to great lengths to perpetuate, and which it routinely bullies major U.S. corporations and even Hollywood movie studios into repeating. This bill now heads to the Senate. You can see how House lawmakers voted on it here.
Defunding rogue judges
For years, political activist judges have abused their power, weaponized the justice system, and undermined the safety of the American people. No examples have been clearer than what we have seen over the past year with Judges James Boasberg and Deborah Boardman. A few years ago, you may recall that a man attempted to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh. While his plot was thankfully thwarted, Judge Boardman felt sympathy for this would-be assassin because he identifies as "transgender" and apologized in court. So instead of the traditional sentence of 30 years, Judge Boardman decided to give him eight. Telegram readers may also remember Judge Boasberg, who has landed several high-profile cases regarding actions taken by the Trump administration. From the bench, Boasberg has unilaterally stopped several popular and long overdue reforms, misusing his authority to essentially advance his own political beliefs. In order to rein in these activist judges, I voted in favor of Representative Chip Roy's amendment to defund both of these activist judges. While that measure unfortunately did not pass, I will continue to push back against judges who attempt to legislate from the bench. You can see how lawmakers voted on that amendment here.
Valentines for veterans
The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is asking for help from the community to ensure that our nation's veterans aren't forgotten on this Valentine's Day. For the third year in a row, the WDVA has sent Valentine's Day cards to veterans living in WDVA facilities in Chippewa Falls, King, and Union Grove. They ask that you refrain from including candy, food, or snacks due to allergies and dietary restrictions. Please send your cards to: Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs, Attn: Veteran Valentines, PO Box 7843, Madison, WI 53707-7843 by January 31st. For more information, click here.
Don't forget to send your Valentine's cards for our Wisconsin veterans to the WDVA.

Judiciary
Deporting foreign fraudsters
As Telegram readers know, we have seen some appalling examples of corruption coming out of Minnesota - most notably a multi-billion dollar Somali welfare fraud racket that seems to get worse with each passing day. Welfare benefits are supposed to be reserved for the most vulnerable Americans. But in Minnesota, fraudsters were using this money to snatch up real estate, fancy cars, international travel, and luxury goods. And it was a bundle. In fact, recent news reports indicate that over $700 million in cash was detected in passengers' luggage departing the Minneapolis airport over the past two years. Some of those funds were reportedly even sent overseas to finance terrorism. That's why this week, the House Judiciary Committee passed the Deporting Fraudsters Act by Representative Dave Taylor (OH-02). This bill will ensure that any alien who admits to or is convicted of defrauding the federal government and the American people is immediately deported and deemed inadmissible for future re-entry. Fraud of any kind is unacceptable, but it is diabolical for foreigners who were given the privilege to come here to then take advantage of our generosity and line their own pockets, or worse, use it to fund terrorism. Simply put, if someone defrauds our country, they must be deported. You can watch my statement on this bill here.
Recent Legislation
Whole milk is back
This week, President Trump signed the Whole Milk and Healthy Kids Act into law. This important legislation will allow schools to serve whole and 2% milk, overturning an Obama-era ban. It also protects access to flavored milk. You may remember that after the Biden administration attempted to eliminate flavored milk last Congress, I fought back and successfully blocked the effort. I am proud to say that I've cosponsored this legislation in every Congress that I've served in, and it's no surprise that codifying this legislation is a big win for both our farmers and our students. Not only is whole milk the best tasting milk, but it's also full of rich nutrients that support bone growth and development, and millions of children enjoy drinking it. With most kids not getting enough daily dairy intake, this is a win for our children, dairy farmers, and America's Dairyland.
Never isolate our seniors again
The COVID-19 lockdown revealed a harsh truth that cutting families off from nursing homes left seniors isolated and vulnerable, separated from the care, oversight, and support they rely on. That's why I cosponsored the bipartisan and bicameral Essential Caregivers Act. This legislation ensures that families are part of the conversation during any future emergency, so loved ones are never treated as just "visitors" again. As testimonies have shown, relatives help provide emotional support that regular staff alone cannot replace. This bill guarantees residents the right to in-person access to a designated essential caregiver, even when general visitation is restricted, while also making sure there are clear standards to ensure safety. Prolonged isolation has real consequences, with studies showing seniors cut off from human connection face a higher risk of cognitive decline and dementia. You can read more about this important legislation here.
