MUNCY, PA - Geisinger Medical Center Muncy has earned the top Hospital Safety Grade for spring 2026 from the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization.
"Earning an A rating is a powerful affirmation of our focus on patient safety and quality," said Dr. Jason Schauer, chief medical officer, north-central region. "This achievement reflects the dedication of our physicians, nurses and care teams who show up every day committed to delivering exceptional, compassionate care to the communities we serve."
This is Geisinger Medical Center Muncy's third "A" grade rating in a row. Out of all eligible hospitals nationwide, just 12% made the cut for straight A's.
Founded in 2000, the Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization that assigns an "A," "B," "C," "D" or "F" grade to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
