E Colfax Neighborhood to Celebrate its First BRT Arch at Quebec

DENVER - The East Colfax Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project team, in collaboration with The Fax Partnership and Fiction Beer Company, will host a watch party for the installation of the station arch at Quebec Street, the first in the historic East Colfax Neighborhood and East Colfax Cultural District. This will be 23 and 24 of 32 total installations along the corridor. The event will feature both a book swap and an Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony performed by Merkato Market. Attendees will also have a sneak peek of the trailer for "Destination Colfax," a short film that features the unique and storied history of travel, transit and life along the iconic avenue, which will premiere on May 1 at the Aurora Fox Arts Center.

  • Book Swap: 6 p.m.
  • Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony: 7 p.m.
  • Destination Colfax Sneak Peek: 7:30 p.m.
  • Arch lift expected: 8 p.m.

Note: Colfax Avenue will be closed between Poplar and Quince streets in both directions along Colfax Avenue for a crane to occupy the roadway and install the arch. Parking is available on side streets.

  • Area small businesses will be represented at a vendor table. In addition to Fiction Beer Company, the event will feature food from Ali Baba Mediterranean Cuisine and desserts by Hadnet Unity CafĂ©.
  • Attendees are encouraged to bring lightly used books to trade at the book swap.
  • This event will be a chance to get the popular Fax Pass and to redeem prizes. Several participating businesses will be open, offering deals and handing out stickers.
