Portland, OR Last night, Donald Trump made an address to the nation in which he doubled down on his lies and conspiracy theories with the goal of undermining our free and fair elections. During his remarks, he even baselessly referred to mail-in ballots as "inherently corrupt."

In Oregon, which has used mail-in ballots as the standard for nearly 30 years, audits by Democrat and Republican Secretaries of State have found no evidence of widespread voter fraud. Republican candidate for governor Christine Drazan has so far refused to comment on whether she agrees with Trump's latest unfounded conspiracy theory, or whether she will support his attacks on Oregon's vote-by-mail system.

Given her own history of working to dismantle Oregon's vote-by-mail system, Oregonians deserve to know where she stands:

  • Why hasn't Christine Drazan spoken out against Donald Trump's unfounded claim that mail-in-ballots are "inherently corrupt?"
  • Does she support Donald Trump's call to pass the SAVE America Act, a bill that places unreasonable restrictions on voters and attacks voting rights?
  • Will Christine Drazan reverse herself and finally defend Oregon's vote-by-mail system?

"Donald Trump has made it clear that he will do whatever he can to undermine our free and fair elections before voters have the opportunity to hold him accountable in November," said Democratic Party of Oregon Chair Nathan Soltz. "Six years later, Donald Trump continues to deny the outcome of an election that the rest of the world knows he lost. The real question is: is Christine Drazan willing to stand up to Trump and defend Oregon's vote-by-mail system? Or is she just another MAGA Republican pushing baseless conspiracies and anti-democracy policies?"
