October 18 to 19, 2025: Road Closures in Riverside, Cambridge Highlands and Harvard for Head of the Charles and other Community Events

Drivers should expect increased traffic and limited parking in Riverside, Cambridge Highlands and Harvard Square area between Friday, October 17, and Sunday, October 19, due to several large community events, including theHead of the Charles Regatta, the Attic Vintage Block Party, and the Community Art Center Block Party.

Head of the Charles Regatta

The Regatta begins the morning of Friday, October 17, but roads will remain open until Saturday morning. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, the following streets will be closed to vehicles:

  • Memorial Drive (between Western Avenue and JFK Street)
  • DeWolfe Street (between Mt. Auburn Street and Memorial Drive)
  • Flagg Street (between Banks Street and Memorial Drive)
  • Ash Street (from Mt. Auburn Street to Memorial Drive)

Getting to the Regatta:
Parking near the event is limited. Consider using public transportation or alternative modes of travel such as:

Road Closure: From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Arrow Street (between Massachusetts Avenue and Bow Street)

Date: Saturday, October 18, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Location: 125 Fawcett Street
Road Closure: From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Fawcett Street (between Concord Avenue and 110 Fawcett Street)

Residents and visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time.
