FIJI AND UAE STRENGTHEN TIES IN YOUTH AND...

The Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Jese Saukuru, received a courtesy visit from the Special Envoy of the UAE Minister for Foreign Affairs H.E. Omar Shehadeh , at the Ministry headquarters today (03/09/25).

This was the first such visit by the UAE's Special Envoy to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, demonstrating the UAE's firm commitment to deepening bilateral relations and collaboration between the two nations in terms of youth and sports development.

Minister Saukuru welcomed the UAE delegation and acknowledged the efforts by the UAE to further strengthen engagements, demonstrating their leadership in areas such as renewable energy, climate resilience, and humanitarian support.

Minister Saukuru conveyed his appreciation to the UAE for its ongoing support to Fiji in terms of youth and sports development.

During the meeting, discussions centered on how the two countries can work together to enhance youth and sports development in Fiji, reaffirming their support and cooperation with the Ministry.

Also present at the meeting were Permanent Secretary Mr. Meli Nacuva, Acting Deputy Secretary Mr. Philip Hereniko, Fiji Sports Council CEO Mr. Gilbert Vakalalabure, and Fiji National Sports Commission Chairman Mr. Peter Mazey.
