DOL proposal seeks to modernize delivery of disclosures for group health plans

The Department of Labor July 22 released a proposed rule to modernize how group health plans deliver required disclosures. The proposal would create a safe harbor, allowing nearly 2.8 million group health plans covered by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act to provide required documents electronically. The DOL estimates that group health plans could save $3.9 billion over 10 years under the rule.
