Council preview for Sept. 16

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the Fort Worth City Council will conduct public hearings on the FY26 tax rate and recommended budget, as well as hold the regularly scheduled Council meeting. Both the hearings and the meeting will be held in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 100 Fort Worth Trail.
Public hearings
Public hearings on the Fiscal Year 2026 tax rate and recommended budget will be held at 5:30 p.m.
The recommended budget aligns with the City Council's five strategic priorities:

City Council meeting
Immediately following the public hearings, Council will vote to adopt the FY26 tax rate, operating budget, five-year CIP and fee ordinance at the regularly scheduled 6 p.m. meeting. The City's new fiscal year starts Oct. 1.
Other items of note on the agenda

Eddie GarcĂa will be sworn in as the city's 28th police chief.

Council will vote to approve the FY25-26 Tarrant County 911 District budget.

Council will vote to approve the FY26 budget for D/FW International Airport.

Council will set the regularly scheduled work sessions and meetings for January-December 2026.

Council will vote on 15 zoning cases.

Additionally, Council will vote on the consent agenda and individual items on the non-consent agenda, including an ordinance to add 10 new police officer positions and update Police Department salaries starting Oct. 1 as part of the FY26 budget.
