LOS ANGELES - AltaMed Health Services, the nation's largest community health center, has appointed Joseph Gantan. M.D., Senior Vice President as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the organization.
In this role, Dr. Gantan will serve as the CMO, overseeing health services offered at 68 sites that provide primary care, pediatrics, senior care, dental, behavioral health, HIV/AIDS care, pharmacies, more to 700,000 patients in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

During the past four months Dr. Gantan has served as interim CMO. During his 13-year tenure at AltaMed, he has held many leadership and clinical roles, including
pediatrician, associate medical director, site medical director, regional medical director, and most recently, vice president of medical groups for health services.
Dr. Gantan earned his medical degree from UC Davis School of Medicine, followed by a pediatric internship and residency at Children's Hospital Oakland. He further strengthened his leadership foundation through the Faculty Development track at Keck School of Medicine of USC and by completing an Executive Master of Health Administration at USC's Sol Price School of Public Policy.
