Your data, your concern programme in the final of the international GPA Awards 2026

The nationwide educational programme 'Your data - Your concern', implemented by the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, was among the 23 finalists of the Global Privacy and Data Protection Awards 2026 in the category 'Education and public awareness'. The list of finalists was announced by the Secretariat of the Global Privacy Assembly (GPA).

This is another international distinction for educational activities undertaken by the Personal Data Protection Office. The 'Your Data - Your Concern' programme has been supporting schools and educational establishments for years to raise awareness among children and young people about the protection of personal data and the right to privacy. It also aims to equip teachers and students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to function consciously and safely in the digital environment.

About the GPA Awards

The Global Privacy Assembly is one of the most important global forums for cooperation between data protection and privacy authorities. It brings together more than 130 institutions from around the world, creating a space for cooperation, exchange of experience and dissemination of good practices in the field of data protection and privacy.

The Global Privacy and Data Protection Awards are an initiative of the GPA Secretariat to recognise and promote particularly valuable privacy and data protection initiatives. The awards were given for the first time in 2017 at 39. International Conference of Commissioners for Human Rights Data Protection and Privacy in Hong Kong. After the organization's name was changed to the Global Privacy Assembly in 2019, the competition continues as an annual GPA initiative.

This year's awards are presented in categories including education and awareness-building, innovation, accountability, and dispute resolution and enforcement. There will also be an audience award.

The 'Your Data, Your Concern' programme was shortlisted for the final in the 'Education and public awareness' category, which recognises initiatives promoting data protection awareness, education, training and social engagement.

The full list of finalists can be consulted on the Global Privacy Assembly website: 'Award entries: Education and public awareness.' Further information on the final assessment of the submitted initiatives and the vote in the Audience Award is expected shortly.

The winning initiatives will be honoured at the 48th annual Global Privacy Assembly conference, which will take place on 16-19 November 2026 in Brussels.

Personal Data Protection Office again appreciated by the GPA

This is another year in which the Personal Data Protection Office's educational activities have been recognized internationally. In last year's edition of the GPA Awards, the 'Education and Awareness' award went to the "A Child's Image Online: To Publish or Not?" carried out jointly by the Personal Data Protection Office and the Orange Foundation.

This year's nomination for Your Data, Your Concern confirms that efforts to educate children and young people on data protection and privacy are also recognised by the international assembly of data protection authorities.
