DNC Condemns the Trump Administration for Illegally Releasing Rep. Mikie Sherrill’s Sensitive Data to Her Opponent’s Campaign Arrow

Trump and Ciattarelli must stop weaponizing and distributing illegally disclosed military personnel records

Today, CBS News reported that a branch of Trump's National Archives and Records Administration illegally released unredacted military personnel records about New Jersey Democrat Mikie Sherrill to her opponent's campaign.

The personal data released to Jack Ciattarelli's operative includes Sherrill's Social Security number, home addresses for her and her parents, life insurance information, her Navy performance evaluations, and the nondisclosure agreement between her and the U.S. government to safeguard classified information.

Sherrill quickly condemned the breach calling it "an illegal and dangerous weaponization of the federal government."

Ciattarelli and Trump are two peas in a pod, looking to weaponize illegally obtained information for personal and political gain.

In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

"Rep. Sherrill graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served honorably for nearly 10 years. The Trump administration's decision to release her unredacted military personnel files to her opponent's campaign, including her Social Security number, is yet another example of Donald Trump and the Republicans illegally weaponizing the federal government for political purposes. The men and women who served our nation deserve respect and honor, but just like his buddy, Trump, Jack Ciattarelli has now proven exactly how little he values our service members and veterans. His campaign's distribution of these materials is flat-out disgusting, exactly what people hate most about politics, and should immediately stop. This is a shameful scandal that shows how little Donald Trump and Jack Ciattarelli think of the American military, and there should be a criminal investigation into this leak and the Ciattarelli campaign."
