Boise State University hosted its annual Doctoral Recruitment Weekend on Thursday, Feb. 19, and Friday, Feb. 20, welcoming prospective doctoral students from across the country and around the world to campus.
The multi-day event gave visitors opportunities to meet faculty mentors, connect with current graduate students and staff, and tour campus, research facilities and the broader Boise area.
The weekend featured a Friday breakfast and dinner at the Stueckle Sky Center that brought together prospective students and university leadership. Scott Lowe, dean of the Graduate College, and Zeynep Hansen, interim provost and vice president of academic affairs, delivered remarks emphasizing the university's commitment to research excellence, innovation and student success.
"Doctoral education and the outstanding doctoral students we recruit are the engine of Boise State's research and scholarly communities," Lowe said. "Attracting the very best doctoral students is essential to strengthening our research impact, and is vital to our pursuit of a Carnegie R1 classification. Events like Doctoral Recruitment Weekend give us the opportunity to showcase the exceptional programs, faculty mentorship, and collaborative culture that define the Boise State doctoral experience."
