Mayor Keith Wilson and City Council President Jamie Dunphy issued the following joint statement applauding the Oregon State Legislature's approval of the bill advancing the modernization of the Moda Center.

"We celebrate the Oregon State Legislature's approval of this important bill, which passed with bipartisan support in both the Senate and the House. We extend our gratitude to Senate President Rob Wagner, Senator Kate Lieber, House Majority Leader Ben Bowman and the many legislators who helped move this effort forward.

The legislature's work gets us through the first quarter. With this legislative step complete, we're ready to move into the next phase. We look forward to working closely with the Trail Blazers, the State of Oregon, and our regional partners to keep driving this renovation down the court and position it for a winning finish.

Modernizing the Moda Center is a generational opportunity -- one that strengthens our economy, supports jobs, and ensures that Oregon's largest arena continues to serve as a cultural and economic anchor for decades to come. We're committed to continuing this work with our partners to ensure this renovation delivers lasting benefits for Portland and the entire state."
