KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City, Mo. man was sentenced in federal court today for robbing 14 convenience stores and attempting to rob another convenience store, all at gunpoint.

Marquise L. North, 32, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Greg Kays to 28 years in federal prison without parole.

On March 25, 2026, North pleaded guilty to 14 counts of Hobbs Act robbery, one count of attempted Hobbs Act robbery, and two counts of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

North brandished a firearm each time he entered 15 convenience stores to steal money between July 26, and Sept. 21, 2024. Of those 15 robberies, North pointed the firearm at 21 separate victims while demanding money.

North's last robbery of the spree was on Sept. 21, 2024. He took the cash drawer from the business, which contained an active cash tracker. Officers arrested North after a brief foot chase.

Two days later, investigators responded to the area of the pursuit to attempt to locate items North threw from his vehicle. Investigators discovered the firearm North used during the robberies was recovered by the University of Missouri - Kansas City Police Department the previous day. A citizen discovered the firearm while walking his dogs and turned it in to the police.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jessica L. Jennings. It was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, the Raytown, Missouri Police Department, and the Independence, Missouri Police Department.
