Maria Paganelli, Ph.D. , professor of economics at Trinity University, was a featured panelist for The Federalist Society's webinar "Why Adam Smith Still Matters: 250 Years of The Wealth of Nations." Highlights of the discussion mark the 250th anniversary of Adam Smith's landmark work and its continuing influence on modern economic and political thought. Paganelli and the other scholars examined both the economic and moral dimensions of Smith's philosophy and how his vision of a "system of natural liberty" continues to inform discussions of markets, law, and public policy in the 21st century.
The program explored how The Wealth of Nations helped shape ideas about free markets, individual liberty, and the institutional foundations of a prosperous society, concepts that remain central to debates about economic policy and governance today. Read the review here .
