USDA Invests $1 Million in Saint Charles Water System Improvements

U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development State Director for Michigan Dom Restuccia today announced a $1 million grant to the Village of Saint Charles in Saginaw County for water system improvements.

"Under Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins leadership, the Trump-Vance Department of Agriculture is making landmark investments to improve soil health and enhance water quality throughout rural Michigan," said Restuccia. "We are committed to tackling the issue of aging water infrastructure. Because of this investment, lead services lines will be replaced, and Saint Charles residents will have safe, clean, and reliable water."

This project is funded through USDA Rural Development's Water and Environmental Programs . The total project cost is $1.413 million with the recipient providing $413,000. Rural Development funding will improve the village's water distribution system by replacing existing cast iron water mains with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipes. The village's current water main lines are undersized and cast iron, which are prone to breakage.
