On September 25, the Chinese Consulate General in Belfast hosted a reception to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly Edwin Poots MLA, Junior Minister Aisling Reilly, and nearly 200 dignitaries from various sectors, representatives of Chinese enterprises and students attended.
Consul General Li stated that over the past 76 years, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China, China has successfully embarked on a Chinese path to modernization, achieving remarkable accomplishments, and successfully lifting nearly 800m people out of abject poverty and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. China is now moving toward a new stage of high-quality development with greater openness, confidence, and cooperation. Recently, China solemnly commemorates the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and put forward the Global Governance Initiative, demonstrating its commitment as a major country. Looking to the future, China is willing to deepen friendship and expand cooperation with Northern Ireland, working together to build a brighter future for China-NI relations.
Guests warmly congratulated China on its National Day, expressed admiration for its development achievements, and conveyed their willingness to strengthen friendly cooperation between both sides.
The reception featured wonderful cultural performances and was filled with a warm and friendly atmosphere.
