Rosalee Anderson, Portland Ceasefire assistant director, recently traveled to Illinois to attend the kickoff of the University of Chicago's Community Violence Leadership Academy.
The five month leadership academy is a first-of-it kind education program for senior community violence intervention leaders. The kickoff event provided a foundation for the academy's upcoming work discussed the challenges faced by communities impacted by violence.
"I am honored to be part of a cohort of 22 leaders from 17 cities across the United States and look forward to the next five months of learning, collaboration, and shared work to strengthen violence prevention strategies nationwide," said Anderson.
