Dallas ISD News: Students will continue to have access to free meals and snacks through after-school programs

NEWS RELEASE
For Immediate Release: Oct. 14, 2026

DALLAS - Dallas ISD's Food and Child Nutrition Services (FCNS) is pleased to announce the continuation of the At-Risk Afterschool Meals component of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) for the 2026-2027 school year.

Through CACFP, Dallas ISD receives federal reimbursement for nutritious meals and snacks served to students ages 18 and younger who participate in eligible after-school programs. As a result, students attending after-school programs at participating Dallas ISD campuses can receive a free snack or supper.

The CACFP supports student health and well-being by encouraging healthy eating habits and extending access to nutritious meals beyond the regular school day. Providing balanced meals after school helps students stay energized, supports academic success, and promotes lifelong healthy habits.

By continuing to participate in the At-Risk Afterschool Meals component of CACFP during the 2026-2027 school year, Dallas ISD reaffirms its commitment to ensuring every student has access to the nutritious meals they need to thrive-in the classroom, after school, and beyond.
