SOUTH PASADENA, CA - Assemblymember Mike Fong (D-Alhambra) joined community leaders and representatives from the Crowell Family YMCA to present $2 million in state funding to support renovations to the facility, ensuring it continues to serve as a vital community hub for generations to come.

For decades, the Crowell Family YMCA has provided a welcoming space for children, families, and seniors to participate in recreational activities, health and wellness programs, and youth development opportunities. The facility also offers programs such as Youth and Government, which empowers high school students to develop leadership skills, engage in civic discussions, and gain firsthand experience with California's legislative process.

"The Crowell Family YMCA is a place where families come together, young people develop lifelong skills, and neighbors build lasting connections," said Assemblymember Fong. "I am proud to secure $2 million in state funding to help bring these renovations to life and ensure this important community space continues to serve our residents for generations to come."

The YMCA has also played an important role in supporting residents during times of crisis. In the aftermath of the Eaton Fire, the facility served as a welcoming space where volunteers and community members came together to provide relief and support to those impacted by the disaster.

"This $2 million investment will make a lasting difference for the Crowell Family YMCA and the community we serve," said Jason Ramos, Executive Director of the Crowell Family YMCA. "Our center is a place where people young and old discover their potential, families build connections, and neighbors find a sense of belonging. Thanks to Assemblymember Mike Fong's support, we can continue moving forward with the revitalization of our facility, ensuring that South Pasadena, San Marino, and our surrounding communities have this welcoming place for generations to come."

In recognition of its longstanding commitment to community service, Assemblymember Fong named the Crowell Family YMCA his 2025 Nonprofit of the Year.
