UNESCO Strengthens Disability Assessment Capacity in Mongolia

The first workshop took place on 4-5 September 2025 in Darkhan-Uul Province, hosting 21 DAC members (17 female) from Darkhan-Uul, Tuv, and Selenge provinces. Led by experts from the Central Commission for Children with Disabilities, the General Authority for Education, and disability-focused consultants, it focused on four key topics, including national policies, CRPD principles, developmental detection and support, as well as case studies and cross-sector coordination.

Building on the Darkhan-Uul model, the second workshop was scheduled for 13-14 November 2025 in Arkhangai Province, targeting 21 DAC members (10 female) from Arkhangai, Övörkhangai, and Bayankhongor provinces. The agenda mirrored the Darkhan-Uul session, with a focus on local challenges and knowledge-sharing among regional commissions.

A highlight of this project was a field visit to the Darkhan-Uul Province Center for the Development of Persons with Disabilities, where participants exchanged best practices for referring children to rehabilitation services. Attendees also observed a live DAC meeting, reviewing five child disability cases to apply their learning to real-world scenarios and identify gaps in local commission workflows.
