City of Greensboro Co-Hosts GIS Day Event November 19

The City of Greensboro and regional partners host the Piedmont Triad Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day celebration from 1 to 4 pm on Wednesday, November 19, at the Van Dyke Performance Space inside the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St. Free parking will be available for college students at the Church Street Parking Deck, 215 N. Church St.

The free, drop-in event highlights how geographic information systems are transforming decision-making and service delivery across the region. GIS Day is a fun, interactive way to see how cities, schools, and organizations use maps and technology to plan for the future. Visitors can explore displays, talk with professionals, and see examples of how mapping tools support City and regional services.

College students interested in GIS internships or careers are encouraged to attend the event. Certificates of participation will be available for students who provide a valid email address at sign-in, and networking opportunities will be provided for attendees interested in learning more about local GIS programs and internships. No advance registration is required.

In addition to representatives from different City departments, GIS technicians from City of High Point, City of Winston-Salem, Davidson County, Forsyth County, Guilford County, North Carolina A&T State University, and University of North Carolina at Greensboro are scheduled to participate.
