Cassidy Announces $46.7 Million for Louisiana Airport Improvements from His Infrastructure Law

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) announced Louisiana airports will receive a combined $46,681,737.00 in federal funding from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The funding comes through Cassidy's Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and will support safety upgrades, runway extensions, drainage systems, and hangar construction at airports across the state.

"The airport is the first thing people see when visiting Louisiana," said Dr. Cassidy. "With this funding, we are making our state more accessible to families, businesses, and visitors."

Funding Amount Recipient Project Description
$20,240,804.00 Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport This grant provides federal funding for the extension of Taxiway L by 6,500 feet to bring the airport into conformity with current standards.
$14,767,604.00 Lafayette Airport Commission This grant provides federal funding to reconstruct existing Runway 4R/22L lighting, Runway 11/29 lighting, and Taxiways B, C, E, G, H, J, K, L & M lighting that have reached the end of their useful life.
$3,935,917.00 City of Rayville (John H Hooks Jr Memorial Airport) This grant provides federal funding to reconstruct 3,998 feet of Runway 18/36 to maintain structural integrity and minimize foreign object debris.
$3,833,220.00 Houma-Terrebonne Airport Commission This grant provides federal funding to reconstruct 2,260 feet of Taxiway F pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
$2,650,000.00 Rapides Parish Police Jury (Esler Regional Airport) This grant provides federal funding to construct new storm drain infrastructure to eliminate ponding on airfield surfaces and bring the airport into conformity with current standards.
$426,000.00 Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional Airport This grant provides federal funding to construct a new 8,400 square foot sponsor-owned hangar for aircraft storage.
$340,955.00 Orleans Levee District (Lakefront Airport) This grant provides federal funding for design work to mitigate a safety deficiency at Runway 18R/36L by constructing a new Taxiway B connector.
$257,237.00 Lafayette Airport Commission This grant provides federal funding to shift Taxiway B by 70 feet to bring the airport into conformity with current standards.
$150,000.00 Port of South Louisiana Executive Regional Airport This grant provides federal funding to construct a sponsor-owned hangar to assist the airport in becoming more self-sustaining.
$80,000.00 City of DeQuincy (DeQuincy Industrial Airpark) This grant provides federal funding to reconstruct culverts and drainage swales in the Runway Safety Area to reduce erosion.
