LNAA Police Department welcomes new K-9 officer to protect passengers

(Hanover Township, PA) -Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) has proudly announced the arrival of Argon - the newest K-9 officer serving within the Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority (LNAA) Police Department.

His first official day on the job is Wednesday, September 3rd.

A two-year-old Labrador Retriever - Argon began training in April 2025 with his partner, Officer William Bryfogle. He received an explosives detection certification from the National Police Canine Association and has also developed skills for tracking.

"Airport operations occur 24/7,soOfficer Argon becomes an instant asset for our department to supplement the current security and screening procedures. He has the perfect temperament to balance work responsibilities with positive passenger interactions," said Chief Steve Gensits, LNAA Police Department.

Argon becomes the third certified K-9 officer in the Airport's history:

Ben - retired in 2011

Mikki - retired in 2024

"There's no higher priority than ensuring the safety of all Airport customers. Having the inhouse resource of a K-9 officer only enhances our immediate response to any potential security matter," said Thomas R. Stoudt, Executive Director, LNAA.

The LNAA Police Department will provide K-9 assistance to fellow law enforcement agencies and mutual aid responders across the Lehigh Valley upon request.
