Military Intelligence Reviews has been published four times in the years 2021, 2023, 2025, and 2026.
Finland's military intelligence service is continuously developing as a provider of national security. This development is guided by the unstable global situation, Finland's position as a neighbouring country to Russia, the new working methods associated with NATO membership, as well as the creation of a shared situational awareness and the digitalised environment.
The purpose of the Military Intelligence Review is to provide a public and up-to-date picture of current issues in military intelligence and developments in the security environment. It contains no information that should be kept secret, but describes key phenomena, threat assessments and trends that affect security.
The message for 2026 is clear: the security environment is increasingly complex and requires continuous monitoring and foresight. The public overview of military intelligence 2026 notes, among other things, the following:
Finland's operational environment remains tense. According to military intelligence, it is, however, unlikely that Finland would face an immediate military threat in 2026. The development of the security environment is monitored continuously and systematically.
