The Kyrgyz Republic Signs a Country Programme Framework (CPF) for 2026-2031

H.E. Mr Meder Mashiev, Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Mr Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation, signed Kyrgyzstan's third Country Programme Framework (CPF) for the period of 2026-2031 on 17 September 2025.

A CPF is the frame of reference for the medium-term planning of technical cooperation between a Member State and the IAEA and identifies priority areas where the transfer of nuclear technology and technical cooperation resources will be directed to support national development goals.

Kyrgyzstan has been an IAEA Member State since 2003. Its 2026-2031 CPF identifies four priority areas:

  1. Strengthening the national system for nuclear and radiation safety and security.
  2. Improving the management of cancer, malnutrition, and other non-communicable diseases.
  3. Assessing prerequisites and national capacities for a potential nuclear power programme.
  4. Enhancing environmental radiation monitoring, including uranium legacy sites.
