DGA Chair Gov. Andy Beshear Statement on the Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

On the 53rd anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, DGA Chair Governor Andy Beshear released the following statement:

"In the years since Donald Trump's hand-picked Supreme Court judges overturned Roe v. Wade, Democratic governors have remained the last line of defense to protect millions of Americans from attacks on their health care and fundamental freedoms.

"As Republican politicians in Washington rip away health care for millions of Americans and threaten access to reproductive rights, Democratic governors are standing up for their states by enshrining abortion rights into state law, using executive power to protect women and health care providers, and vetoing dangerous abortion bans.

"Support for extreme anti-abortion agendas remains a major vulnerability for GOP candidates in governors races across the country, and the Democratic Governors Association is committed to ensuring every voter understands that our fundamental freedoms are on the line this November."
