The first quays of the new cruise terminal in Klaipeda are completed

Construction of the new cruiseship terminal at the Port of Klaipeda has picked up speed and is moving forward rapidly.

Work on the first quays, where construction began in 2025, has already been completed. With some works progressing ahead of schedule, the outlines of the newly-built quays are becoming increasingly visible.

"Just over half a year since the first works began, the reconstruction of the first two quays has already been completed, and the remaining parts of the terminal are taking shape. This is truly a space worth waiting for," says Algis Latakas, ceo, Port of Klaipeda.

This is all part of the conversion waterfront project. The new cruise terminal is being constructed in the former soviet ship repair yard terminal.

The new terminal will be able to accommodate more than one cruiseship at a time, as it will have two quays - one of 369m and one of of 222m in length - as well as onshore power supply and spacious and convenient areas for busses and passengers.

Alongside new modern cruise facilities, the project includes an open-air amphitheatre facing the Curonian Lagoon, event spaces, leisure zones, pedestrian promenades, cycling paths and a marina for pleasure boats and yachts.

The terminal will function both as port infrastructure for maritime tourism and as an open public waterfront space for residents and visitors. The project represents one of the most important recent port-city integration initiatives in Lithuania.

The €50.3 million terminal, designed to integrate naturally into the emerging central city spaces, is scheduled for completion in 2027.
