October 10, 2025, Peoria, IL - Today, Tywahnn K. Tillman, 37, pleaded guilty to Attempt First Degree Murder for a shooting that occurred in October 2023 at Big Al's in downtown Peoria.
On October 23, 2023, around 3 a.m., officers responded to shots fired inside Big Al's and found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim was a bouncer for the club.
Through surveillance footage and witness statements, investigators learned that Tillman had gotten into a fight with the bouncer and had been kicked out of the club. Tillman then went to a car outside, retrieved a gun, and returned inside. He pushed past several people, walked right up to the bouncer, who had his back turned to Tillman, and shot him in the head. The bouncer survived the shooting but sustained serious neck injuries, including damage to his C1 and C2 vertebrae. Tillman fled the scene on foot.
Tillman was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, in March 2024.
In exchange for Tillman's guilty plea, the state agreed to a maximum possible prison sentence of 48 years. Sentencing will occur on December 4.
