Longtime leader and community advocate to lead efforts that advance customer-focused initiatives and strengthen stakeholder engagement and relationships.

Pepco Holdings has named Marcus Beal as its new vice president of Governmental and External Affairs and region president for Delmarva Power.

In this role, Beal will lead the company's external affairs and stakeholder engagement strategy for the company, working closely with elected officials, business leaders, and community partners. His focus will include advancing customer-centric initiatives and fostering collaboration to support reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy for all customers. Beal replaces Phil Vavala, who has retired after more than 30 years with the Exelon family of companies and its predecessors.

"Marcus brings a unique combination of operational knowledge, strategic insight, and deep community connection," said Jaclyn Cantler, senior vice president of Governmental, Regulatory and External Affairs for Pepco Holdings, which includes Delmarva Power. "From his start as an intern nearly two decades ago to now leading our external affairs efforts, he has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to the people and communities we serve. His leadership and local insight will be instrumental in strengthening partnerships across our region."

Beal's experience spans multiple disciplines - from systems engineering and information technology to communications and regulatory strategy - making him exceptionally well-positioned to guide the company's external affairs efforts. Over the years, he has played an integral role in advancing key initiatives that enhance reliability, strengthen operations, and support transparent communication with customers and stakeholders.

Most recently, Beal served as director for Governmental and External Affairs at Delmarva Power, where he oversaw engagement efforts with key stakeholders in the region.

"This region has always been part of my story," said Beal. "From my days as a student at the University of Delaware to starting my career as an intern at Delmarva Power, I've had the privilege of working along the Eastern Shore and in Delaware for many years. I'm excited to continue serving the people and communities that have shaped my journey."

Beal is deeply engaged in the communities Delmarva Power serves, holding leadership roles across several organizations. He serves on the boards of the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Salisbury Committee Executive Committee, the PHI Community Foundation (as President), the Riverfront Wilmington Business Improvement District, the Maryland-District of Columbia Utilities Association, Wor-Wic College, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Business Advisory Board. Beal holds a bachelor's degree in computer science from the University of Delaware.
