First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus S.Lukashevich meets Ambassador of Ethiopia

On 21 August 2026, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergey Lukashevich, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus concurrently, Genet Teshome Jirru, on the occasion of the completion of his diplomatic mission.

The parties noted the positive momentum in bilateral relations and the ongoing dialogue at the highest and high levels. They reaffirmed the two countries' readiness to intensify cooperation in the political, trade and economic, and humanitarian spheres. They discussed the preparation of key bilateral agreements and the organisation of a number of joint events in the near future. They noted the commitment of Minsk and Addis Ababa to further coordination within multilateral structures, primarily the UN and BRICS.

The sides also exchanged views on the international and regional agenda, with a focus on resolving the situation in the Horn of Africa.

Sergey Lukashevich warmly thanked Genet Teshome Jirru for his fruitful work towards strengthening Belarusian-Ethiopian friendship and multifaceted cooperation.
