GKN Announces Promised Oct. 27 Community Meeting on Proposed Claims Program for Those Affected by May Incident

GKN Aerospace (GKN) has announced an Oct. 27 community meeting on a proposed claims program for residents and businesses affected by the May evacuation. The program, part of a proposed civil settlement, would provide up to $100 million for qualifying claims and remains subject to Orange County Superior Court approval.

Under the proposed program, an independent administrator unaffiliated with GKN would process claims for qualifying evacuation expenses and losses, including hotel stays, meals, transportation, lost wages and loss of use. According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, the program cannot take effect before court approval.

"Our community has waited long enough for a clear path to compensation," said Garden Grove Mayor Stephanie Klopfenstein. "We will insist on an accessible process and ensure affected families and businesses know how to apply as soon as the program opening is announced."

The City of Garden Grove will share verified program information, including application instructions and available assistance, as it becomes available.
