Minister Konaković welcomed the ambassador of the Republic of France in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a farewell visit

On August 24, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, in two separate meetings welcomed the ambassador of the Republic of France in Bosnia and Herzegovina Françis Delmas and the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christine Detaille for a farewell visit.

During the meeting with the ambassador of the Republic of France in Bosnia and Herzegovina Françis Delmas it was discussed about the current political situation leading up to the General Elections, as well as about the European and Euro-Atlantic path of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Minister Konaković expressed his gratitude to the ambassador Delmas on his personal engagement and contribution to the relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of France and wished him a lot of success in his further diplomatic and professional career, assured that the friendly relations of the two countries will continue to develop and strengthen. Ambassador Delmas thanked the Minister on his open and professional cooperation, emphasizing that he will remember the relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina for the mutual respect and constructive dialogue.

In his meeting with the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in Bosnia and Herzegovina Christine Detaille, minister Konaković thanked the ambassador on her contribution to the development of cooperation between the two countries. During the meeting, ambassador Detaille reminded that, due to the reorganization of the diplomatic network, the Embassy of Belgium in Sarajevo will be closed, and that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be covered from the Embassy of Belgium in Zagreb. She emphasized that this change in no way does not diminishes the importance that Belgium attaches to maintaining bilateral relations, and that the commitment to deepening cooperation and cooperation and friendship with Bosnia and Herzegovina will remain permanent.

The current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina was also discussed, as well as the European path of our country and geopolitical challenges, including the growing malign external influence that negatively impacts the stability of the region. Minister Konaković emphasized that the European path remains the most important foreign policy goal of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but it is still hindered by continuous blockades and secessionist policies that slow down the process of reform and weaken the functionality of the state institutions. At the same time, he assessed as encouraging the increasingly pronounced pro-European commitment of opposition political actors in the Republika Srpska, emphasizing that it represents an important incentive for the continuation of reforms and European integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina.At the end of the meeting, the mutual readiness for further dialogue and cooperation was confirmed. They agreed that there is a significant potential for development of relations, especially in the field of economy and tourism, with continuation of political consultations and exchange of visits as an important framework for future cooperation.
