Media outlets are invited to interview Tampa Mayor Jane CastoronThursday, May 7, following the expected release of the FEMA Review Council report.
The council, established January 24, 2025, includes state governors, emergency management directors, and local and state disaster response experts. Last year, the council held multiple public meetings, field hearings, and received extensive written testimony from the public.
Mayor Castor's firsthand experience leading the City of Tampa through two historic hurricanes in late 2024, Helene and Milton, which struck just 13 days apart, positioned her to speak authoritatively about disaster response and the future of federal emergency management.
Any potential changes to FEMA resulting from the review council's recommendations will directly affect how local and state leaders prepare for and respond to future disasters.
The meeting, set to start at 11 am today, is open to the public for online attendance. Additional details on how to watch can be found on the Department of Homeland of Homeland Security website here.
Mayor Castor will be available for interviews immediately following the meeting between 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm inside the Tampa Municipal Office Building, 306 E Jackson St. Media outlets interested in an interview are asked to email [email protected]
