Broken Arrow in Motion—Utilities

In this episode of Broken Arrow in Motion, we have updates on four utility projects, a new fire station, the Arrow Forge Innovation District, and more!

At the 200-foot elevated water storage tank, the contractor has installed the tower's internal mechanisms and expects to finish the site work over the next two weeks, with sodding to follow. They expect they will be ready to fill the tank with water in about two weeks.

Next, the new Main Street Waterline, which runs down the middle of Main Street, is now complete and in use. Road surface improvements to Main Street are being completed in three phases. In Phase 1, Main Street was milled and paved from the railroad tracks to Houston Street. Phase 2 covered the stretch from Houston Street to Mason Street. Now we are in Phase 3, and the asphalt is being milled from Mason Street to Washington Street, with a new asphalt surface and stripes to follow soon.

From there, a small section of Washington Street will be milled, and new asphalt will be laid from Main Street to First Place to connect to the Main Street waterline. This work is expected to be completed by Labor Day weekend.

Next, on the 1st Place Waterline and Trail Project, the contractor is preparing to install a new pedestrian bridge over Sequoyah Creek in early September. The driveways to the Justice Center and the Streets and Stormwater Building have been constructed, and the installation of a 10-foot trail will continue after the final concrete channel north of the Streets and Stormwater Building driveway is completed.

Next, construction has started again on the Houston Street Stormwater Improvements Project. The stormwater drainage portion is now expected to be completed in mid to late October, after a redesign delayed its progress.

At Fire Station #8, the contractor has poured the footings for the apparatus bay. Next, they will pour the footings for the administration area. They are also installing the plumbing and underground electrical components.

At the Arrow Forge Innovation District, the contractor is working on the detention pond headwalls, which prevent erosion and control water flow. Once complete, they can finish excavating the ponds. Work also continues on additional electrical infrastructure. All of the wiring has been pulled into the conduits for PSO to flip the power switch and for the contractor to set all of the light poles, which are scheduled to arrive in late September.

And at Melinda Park, the crew is milling and laying asphalt on 62^nd Street as part of the residential street resurfacing project.
