The 'Roundup' Debate Rages On

As Governor Pritzker digs in his heels insisting on welcoming and harboring the thousands of illegal migrants that the Biden administration's open southern border ushered in, President Trump is equally serious about mobilizing law enforcement to find and arrest them.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reporting that more than 400,000 illegal immigrants have already been arrested, and 70% of them either have criminal convictions or have been charged with crimes. The DHS is also warning the states of California, Illinois and New York to cooperate with the federal government.

Over the summer, the DHS launched a drive to increase Immigration and Customs Enforcement recruitment and received over 150,000 applications.

In the past three years, the annual spending increased another $9 billion to a total of about $55 billion.

The 'magic money' will lower the state's unfunded pension liability, (an ongoing disaster for Illinois), but the state's bonded debt will increase by the same principal amount.

Those same people can't escape the truth.

The nonprofit group Truth in Accounting, which advocates for more transparency in public finance, recently released its Financial State of the States report which concluded that Illinois could not cover all of its financial obligations at the end of fiscal year 2024.
