The City of Denton will be closed Nov. 11 in honor of Veterans Day

DENTON, TX, Nov. 3, 2024 - The City of Denton will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. Facilities will reopen at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Please note the following service impacts with respect to specific City of Denton services and facilities:

Airport
Airport administrative offices will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11. The air traffic control tower will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and the airfield will remain open 24 hours per day.

Animal Services and Shelter
Animal Services and the Linda McNatt Animal Care & Adoption Center will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11. and will be OPEN on Wednesday, Nov. 12, for an adoption special. All adoption fees on Wednesday, Nov. 12 will be waived for veterans and first responders, and half-off for everyone else.

All normal hours will resume on Thursday, Nov. 13. To report an animal-related non-emergency, call (940) 349-8181. In case of an emergency, call 911.

Libraries
All libraries will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Regular hours will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Municipal Courts
The Denton Municipal Court will be closed Tuesday, Nov 11. Online options and automated phone payments remain available 24 hours per day. Normal business hours will resume on Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Parks and Recreation
The Denton Civic Center, Denia Recreation Center, MLK Jr. Recreation Center, Denton Senior Center, and American Legion Hall Senior Center will all be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11. All Parks and Recreation facilities will resume normal hours Wednesday, Nov. 12.

The Denton Tennis and Pickleball Center, North Lakes Driving Range, North Lakes Recreation Center, and Denton Natatorium will remain open on Nov. 11.

Public Safety
Public safety personnel will be on duty during the holiday. The Denton Police Department non-emergency number is (940) 349-8181, and in case of an emergency, dial 911.

Solid Waste & Recycling
There will be no curbside trash, recycling, home chemical collections, or yard waste collection on Tuesday, Nov. 11. Monday's collections will run as scheduled, but the rest of the week will be delayed by one day:

• Tuesday's route will be collected on Wednesday, Nov. 12
• Wednesday's route will be collected on Thursday, Nov. 13
• Thursday's route will be collected on Friday, Nov. 14

The City of Denton Landfill and the Home Chemical Collections Drop Off and Re-use Store will be open from 7 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, Nov. 11.

Utilities
Customer Service will be closed on Tuesday, Nov. 11 and will reopen at normal business hours on Wednesday, Nov. 12. To report a utility service emergency, call Utilities dispatch at (940) 349-7000.
