WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) - chairman of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice and Science (CJS) - secured more than $5 million in federal resources for Kansas State University Olathe to purchase advanced manufacturing equipment. This funding was approved by Congress as part of a three-bill appropriations package, and it was signed into law by the President on Friday, January 23rd.
"The future of our state depends on a strong workforce that is equipped with the tools to meet tomorrow's challenges," said Sen. Moran. "Kansas State University Olathe's advanced manufacturing program plays a critical role in training students for successful futures, while giving them the opportunity to build their careers here at home. By investing in programs like these, we can support our state's workforce, strengthen the local economy and keep Kansas talent right here in our state."
"Senator Moran has been a steadfast champion for Kansas and for the students and employers counting on a workforce ready for what's next," said Richard Linton, President, Kansas State University. "This investment in Kansas State University Olathe will help us expand advanced manufacturing training with the modern equipment today's industry demands and create opportunity for learners, support Kansas companies, and keep homegrown talent right here in our state. We're grateful for Senator Moran's leadership and for this partnership that helps K-State grow solutions for Kansas, now and for generations to come."
