PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT OF MALTA Resident High Commissioner and Ambassador, and Non-Resident Ambassador present their credentials to the President of Malta

A resident Ambassador, a resident High Commissioner, and a non-resident Ambassador presented their credentials to Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta.

The new diplomats are:

His Excellency Barkın Kayaoğlu, Ambassador to the Republic of Türkiye, resident in Malta;

Her Excellency Rachita Bhandari, High Commissioner to the Republic of India, resident in Malta;

and

His Excellency Winston Spadafora Franco, Ambassador to the Republic of Panama, non-resident in Malta.

During the meeting with the new Ambassador of Türkiye, H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono expressed her gratitude on behalf of the Maltese people for Türkiye's diplomatic intervention, which helped ensure that our country maintains a steady supply of the chemical used for cancer treatment at the Oncology Hospital.

Their discussion also focused on the strong relationship between Malta and Türkiye, including in the business sector, and on how it can be further strengthened through new agreements in the future. Regarding instability on the international stage, it was noted that Malta and Türkiye are both at the forefront in conveying a single message - one in favor of dialogue and lasting peace.

In the meeting with the new High Commissioner for India, President Spiteri Debono noted the ever-growing relationship between the two countries and how Malta has recently begun exporting Maltese food and beverages to India. Reference was also made to the substantial investment presence in Malta by Indian entrepreneurs.

During the discussion, both sides also agreed to explore additional areas of cooperation in the future.

During the meeting with the new non-resident Ambassador for Panama, it was noted that the two countries could pursue further cooperation in the maritime and education sectors, particularly with regard to the International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI).

H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono wished all three of them success in their new appointments.
