Statement on Space Command Moving to Alabama

Statement on Space Command Moving to Alabama

Published on September 03, 2025

Sept. 3, 2025 - DENVER - In response to recentcriticism of elections from President Trump in an announcement to move Space Command from Colorado to Alabama, our office is issuing the following statement:

"Attempting to move the Space Command facility to punish Colorado is a reckless decision rooted in false claims about our elections. These attacks insult the bipartisan teams of Republican and Democratic poll workers who work tirelessly to ensure every election is safe and secure.

Colorado's vote-by-mail system is nationally recognized as one of the most secure, accessible and convenient models in the nation. In the last election, more than 85% of Denver voters returned ballots by mail or one of our 46 conveniently located, secure ballot boxes. Undermining that system would disenfranchise voters and drag our democracy backward.

We will continue protecting every Coloradan's right to vote-because participation, not politics, is the foundation of our democracy."
