Sherine Salib Awarded National Recognition Among Medical Educators

Presented by the Association of American Medical Colleges, the award recognizes exceptional contributions to medical student education, with up to four U.S. educators selected per year.

"Dr. Salib has helped define what makes a Dell Med education different," said James Korndorffer, M.D., vice dean for education. "As an educator of both medical students and residents, she brings expertise and empathy to her work - always focused on building a learning environment that prepares students to thrive, lead and make a difference."

A Dell Med educator since the school's establishment in 2014, Salib has been instrumental in supporting the design and delivery of the Leading EDGE curriculum - a uniquely accelerated and integrated experience that prepares students to lead in a rapidly changing health care landscape. Rather than following a traditional model, Dell Med's M.D. program introduces early clinical exposure, emphasizes team-based and experiential learning, and creates space for innovation and self-discovery.

Salib, who is a member of the Dell Med Academy of Distinguished Educators, the Shine Academy of Distinguished Educators and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, also received the 2022 Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award, and was the first recipient of Dell Med's Internal Medicine Outstanding Educator of the Year Award. She serves on national committees dedicated to M.D. program planning and licensure, and her peer-reviewed research and national speaking engagements reflect her commitment to innovation in education.
