NCCU Expands Commitment to Student Success Through National Career Advising Cohort

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) has been selected to join the On-Ramps to Holistic Career Advising for Student Success Cohort, a national initiative led by NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and funded by Lumina Foundation.

NCCU is just one of eight institutions nationwide chosen to participate in the 18-month program, which supports colleges and universities that reimagining how career advising can help student succeed both in the classroom and beyond graduation.

As part of the cohort, two NCCU staff members will collaborate with peers from across the country and national experts to strengthen the university's approach to career advising. The program provides approximately $30,000 in complimentary virtual coaching and expert guidance, along with professional development opportunities and access to a network of institutions dedicated to helping students connect their academic experiences with career goals and long-term success.

At the conclusion of the program, NCCU will receive a $2,000 award to support its ongoing efforts.

"North Carolina Central University's work represents an important contribution to the field and offers valuable insight into how institutions can support holistic career advising experiences for student success," said Jhenai Chandler, Ph.D., vice president of research policy for NASPA.

The cohort is organized through NASPA's Advising Success Network, which works with higher education institutions to improve student outcomes through integrated advising strategies. The initiative will provide opportunities for participating institutions to learn from one another, share promising practices and contribute to the national conversation on student success.
