Penn State Altoona invites alumni and friends to participate in GivingTuesday by making a gift, which will provide financial assistance to our students, support undergraduate research, expand the offerings of the college's Career Closet, and fund scholarship opportunities.
ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State wil celebrate its 11th GivingTuesday on Dec. 2 - and Penn State Altoona invites alumni and friends to be a part of the event by making a gift to provide financial assistance to our students, support undergraduate research, expand the offerings of the college's Career Closet, and fund scholarship opportunities.
GivingTuesday is a global celebration of generosity. And at Penn State, it's a day made for celebrating the We Are spirit. For ten years, students, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and fans have come together to demonstrate a shared belief in the aspirations of Penn State students and a pride in the accomplishments that put our University community on the map. Last year, more than 11,900 gifts were made to raise over $1.7 million-support that encouraged student efforts across the Commonwealth and demonstrated the power of the Penn State community.
On December 2, Penn State's eleventh GivingTuesday will be an opportunity to remind our students that they are a part of a community that believes in their potential. It will be a chance to show support for the people and programs that shape our University. It will be a day to remind our friends and neighbors that We Are a community that stands beside one another and invests in a better, brighter future together.
This year, Penn State Altoona's GivingTuesday campaign will support four initiatives.
This fund supports emergency scholarships for students facing financial crises, including temporary housing during emergencies like fires or displacement, solutions for food insecurity, travel or transportation for family emergencies, shelter in cases of violence or victimization and immediate needs during acute financial stress.
Undergraduate research is a highlight of students' college careers, enhancing career prospects and aiding in graduate school admissions. Support for research enables students to travel, present at conferences, and contribute to prestigious publications.
The Career Closet at Penn State Altoona provides students with professional interview attire free of charge to ensure that they can present themselves confidently at career-related events. All clothing is professionally dry-cleaned and ready for use.
As financial need rises, improving access and affordability is crucial. Your support helps reduce educational costs, making college more accessible and helping students realize their dreams.
Gifts made on GivingTuesday advance the University's historic land-grant mission to serve and lead. Through philanthropy, alumni and friends are helping students to join the Penn State family and prepare for lifelong success; driving research, outreach and economic development that grow our shared strength and readiness for the future; and increasing the University's impact for families, patients and communities across the commonwealth and around the world.
