Town of Hunter - Devil’s Kitchen Lean-to Relocation and Replacement

Public Notice

Public Comment Period for Devil's Kitchen Lean-to Relocation and Replacement

The project involves the removal of the existing lean-to and construct a new lean-to in a more suitable location. The new location will be further from Cold Kill Creek to provide better protection for water resources. The relocation will also promote opportunities for solitude for hikers, bikers, and campers by removing the structure from the trail corridor thereby limiting visual and auditory interruptions experienced by users.

The project is located at Indian Head Wilderness in the Town of Hunter, New York.

Public comments on the proposed work plan will be received until 11/5/2025. To view the work plan, please visit: https://dec.ny.gov/nature/forests-trees/forest-preserve/project-work-pl
