Press statement by Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić

Another excellent piece of news for Montenegro's security sector and the rule of law.

It has been confirmed that Vuk Vulević, a fugitive wanted under an international arrest warrant issued by Montenegro and charged with serious criminal offences, has been arrested in Serbia.

The impressive series of arrests of the most significant fugitives from justice continues, while their number is being significantly reduced. Those who once acted as local sheriffs and governors, at a time when the security sector was controlled by criminal structures, are now either in Spuž Prison or on the run from a clean and professional security sector.

Hardly a week goes by without the arrest of a major fugitive from justice. The fight against all forms of crime and all criminal organisations continues relentlessly, with new blows being delivered almost by the hour.

Montenegro and its institutions, in close cooperation with international partners, are finally standing on the opposite side of organised crime and confronting criminal networks head-on. Every day brings another victory on the path towards fully dismantling criminal structures, restoring the rule of law and bringing all those involved in crime to justice.

There are no longer any individuals who can count on the protection of the state. The state is finally above everyone. We will continue until final victory.
